ACCREDITATION
The PSC achieved the goal of becoming a multi-discipline Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE). The Center has been accredited through the National/International Academies of Emergency Dispatch for Medical Dispatch since 2004 and obtained their Emergency Fire Dispatch accreditation in April of 2009. The Public Safety Communications Center is one of 92 centers that are nationally medical accredited and one of 15 centers that are nationally fire accredited. It is the only center nationwide that holds an additional accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for Public Safety. Being a multi-discipline ACE allows the PSC to provide a consistent and measurable level of service to the agencies and citizens we serve.

CommunityConnect is an innovative service offered by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) that aims to streamline efficient communication and strengthen the agency’s commitment to transparency with community members.
When a caller dials 911 using a cell phone, they’ll receive an initial text message confirming their request for service. Callers will then receive subsequent text messages providing the status of a response or progress on an investigation. In addition, the program allows residents a convenient way to share feedback with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office through electronic surveys, helping the agency continue to improve its services.
If a community member receives a text message after requesting assistance from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, rest assured that the message is a legitimate communication from the SCSO and not a scam. The SCSO will never text or call to request personal or financial information or ask for money or payment of any kind.
Text notifications sent through CommunityConnect are one-way messages only. Recipients may opt out of notifications at any time. Messages are available in both English and Spanish.
