Sarasota Sheriff Employee Relief Fund, also known as SSERF, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity that operates exclusively for the charitable purpose of providing relief to current employees of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) who have encountered unexpected emergencies, hardships, or situations resulting from a natural disaster. The charity raises money through employee and community donations as well as events.

The purpose and objectives of this organization shall be to maintain the highest levels of education, professionalism, and integrity; to help the public at large better understand the role and any concerns of law enforcement; to maintain positive public relations between law enforcement personnel and the public; to conduct educational forums, workshops, and other similar programs for the benefit and welfare of the public at large; to maintain a high level of ethical conduct on the part of all deputies; to provide law enforcement with additional tools, training, equipment, and resources to combat crime and promote public safety; to oversee the investment and administration of donations from persons, corporations, and other philanthropic organizations; to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States of America, the State of Florida, and Sarasota County; and to do all things necessary or incidental to the foregoing.
