Salvatore Giunta

On Friday, September 4th, Salvatore Giunta, DOB 07/06/68, was sentenced to 92.75 years in prison following his conviction on 83 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit began investigating the transmission and possession of CSAM in Sarasota County in January 2024. Through the investigation, detectives identified Giunta as the suspect.

In April 2024, detectives executed a search warrant at Giunta’s residence in Venice. He was arrested and initially charged with 40 counts of possession of CSAM, with an additional 43 counts later filed. In March 2026, Giunta was convicted on all 83 counts. Beyond the 83 images associated with those charges, investigators discovered thousands of additional images and videos containing CSAM during the investigation.

This case is another example of the important work performed every day by our ICAC Unit and Digital Forensics Lab to identify offenders who exploit children and hold them accountable.

We also thank the State Attorney’s Office for its dedication in prosecuting this case and helping ensure Giunta will no longer have the opportunity to victimize children in our community.
