Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

Detectives have arrested a suspect in a homicide investigation that occurred in Venice on April 22, 2025.

Zachary Bolin, DOB: 04/08/1993, of Venice, has been charged with Homicide: Murder Dangerous Depraved without Premeditation in the death of Patrick Alan Warrick, DOB: 05/16/1982, also of Venice. Deputies initially responded at approximately 1:56 a.m. to the 3900 block of South Tamiami Trail in reference to an injured, unresponsive person on the sidewalk. Warrick had a gunshot wound to his right shoulder and another in his abdomen. He was pronounced deceased at 2:31 a.m.

Since Warrick’s death, detectives have used various investigative means to develop the best possible case for prosecution. Sheriff’s detectives were able to identify the suspect and arrest him without incident on Wednesday, March 11 in Venice. Bolin remains in custody at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.
