
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Unit, Intelligence Unit, and Criminal Investigations Section continued a holiday retail theft operation in the Bee Ridge Road & Cattlemen Road corridor in Sarasota, December 18-19, 2025.
Statistics show that retail thefts traditionally increase during the holiday shopping season. The mission of the operation was to identify, disrupt, and prevent retail theft, and arrest individuals engaging in retail theft occurring during the holiday shopping season.
During this two-day operation, 11 subjects were arrested and charged. Three subjects were given a Notice to Appear. In total, 23 new misdemeanor and felony charges were issued for various charges including Petit Theft, Possession of anti-theft devices, and multiple violations of probation. Collectively they accounted for 78 prior felony charges and 92 prior misdemeanor charges.
