Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman is proud to announce the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Corrections Training Academy’s third graduating class.

On Tuesday, the four newest recruits of the Courts and Corrections Division gathered at the sheriff’s office to celebrate with family, friends, and agency members. The graduation ceremony followed their extensive academy curriculum, where the recruits were instructed in physical fitness, firearms, defensive tactics, first aid, legal, officer safety, and correctional supervision. Additionally, they trained in emergency response, communications, and were made familiar with the agency’s facility and equipment.

“With this graduation, we welcome our third graduating class from the SCSO Corrections Training Academy,” commented Sheriff Hoffman. “It is exciting to welcome these recruits to our agency and a privilege to provide the training and education that form their correctional careers.”

The four graduates included: Class President and Corrections Deputy Maeiesha Dexter, Corrections Deputy Emily Lorenzen, Corrections Deputy Roger Rios, and Corrections Deputy Michael Centeno-Kuykendall. Each of these deputies will be assigned to the Corrections Bureau where they will continue their training.
