Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman is proud to announce the promotion of four sheriff’s office members during a ceremony held on Wednesday.
Communications Operator I Jordan Goldberg was promoted to supervisor in the Emergency Operations Bureau. Goldberg joined the agency in 2012 and was promoted to Communications Operator II two years later. In late 2016 she obtained her certification to dispatch for law enforcement services and was promoted to Communications Operator 1. She later became a communications training officer taking on the responsibility of working with newly hired operators. Goldberg holds an Associate of Science in Crime Scene Technology from St. Petersburg College.
Communications Operator I Ashley Patrick was promoted to supervisor in the Emergency Operations Bureau. Patrick was hired by the sheriff’s office in 2013 as a control room specialist in the Courts and Corrections Division. Patrick transferred to a Communications Operator III position and later served as a communications training officer. She received her certification to dispatch fire and EMT services and was promoted to Communications Operator II. The next year she received her certification to dispatch for law enforcement services and was promoted to Communications Operator I. Patrick was nominated for Employee of the Month for the Administrative Division in April of 2024.
Deputy Daniel Davenport was promoted to sergeant assigned to the Patrol Bureau. He was hired by the agency in early 2020 and assigned to the Patrol Bureau. The next year he transferred to Special Operations assigned to the Traffic Unit. Davenport received a Unit Citation as a member of that unit. He is also a breath test operator and has served as a field training deputy. He has served many years as a sergeant in the United States Army Reserve and holds an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Ivy Tech State College.
Deputy Matt Binkley was promoted to Community Affairs Manager. He joined the agency in 2001 as a deputy assigned to the Patrol Bureau. During his 24 years at the sheriff’s office, Binkley served in a multitude of capacities including the Patrol Bureau, Siesta Key community policing, school resource deputy, and the Traffic Unit, where he was also part of the Motor Unit and a motor instructor. Additionally, he served on the Waterborne Response Team, Dive Team, Marine Unit, and as a Tactical Flight Deputy. Binkley received the Combat Cross Award, a Unit Citation Award with the Traffic Unit, the Life Saving Award, and was Dive Team Deputy of the Year. He was nominated for Employee of the Month twice, and Deputy of the Year, three times. Binkley holds his Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University.
“Each time we promote our members, it is a celebration,” said Sheriff Hoffman. “These individuals have done what it takes to reach the next level of service within our agency, and it encourages us all to keep giving our all for the Sarasota community.”
