Convicted Felon Arrested for Armed Burglary and Assault

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a convicted felon Sunday on armed burglary and assault charges after he broke into a local business.
 
Deputies first responded to the 3900 block of N. Washington Boulevard in Sarasota just after 11:00 a.m. for a report of a man found inside a locked business. Deputies quickly arrived on scene and took the man into custody, identifying him as 43-year-old David Willerer. Through investigation, detectives learned an employee discovered Willerer in the office holding two firearms that were removed from a desk. A backpack belonging to Willerer was also recovered from inside a vehicle within a secure fenced lot on the property.
 
Willerer, of 4956 Old Bradenton Road, Unit 107, in Sarasota, is charged with one count of Armed Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, one count of Vehicle Burglary, one count of Aggravated Assault, one count of Violation of Probation and two counts of Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Convicted Felon. He remains in custody today at the Sarasota County Jail without bond.
