Sex Offender Registration

NEWS RELEASE 19-114 - JULY 11, 2019
Leahy, Jesse
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public that Jesse Leahy, DOB 03/12/76, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.

Leahy was convicted in 1994 in Massachusetts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person 14 Years Old or Over. He was sentenced to six months in jail followed by probation. In 2017, Leahy was convicted in Sarasota County of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and served an additional two years behind bars. He was just released and reports he will live in the area of University Parkway and N. Washington Boulevard in Sarasota. The registration of a “location” and not a physical address is allowable by Florida law for homeless or transient persons, but a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff’s office every 30 days. Leahy is currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections and is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school, daycare facility, park or playground.

This information is posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website, agency Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts to publicly notify citizens of sexual offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, when moving into the county or following release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offenders and predator registrations.
