NEWS RELEASE 20-118 - SEPTEMBER 18, 2020
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 51-year-old Nokomis man on several charges after he sexually battered a woman and burned her with a blow torch.
Deputies were called Wednesday morning to a Nokomis residence after receiving a report of a sexual battery. When they arrived, the victim reported Douglas Clark came to her home unannounced around midnight and used narcotics in the kitchen. Detectives noted several injuries on the victim who was being treated at the hospital. Tactical Unit deputies conducted a traffic stop on Clark near the intersection of Pinebrook Road and Laurel Road where he was taken into custody.
Clark, DOB 03/31/69, of 405 Pinewood Avenue, is charged with two counts of Sexual Battery on a Victim 12 Years or Older, and single counts of Kidnapping, Driving While License Suspended, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. He remains in custody today without bond.
