Sarasota Fire Reveals Grow Operation

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a father and son on felony drug charges after first responders discovered a grow operation in their Sarasota home.

Deputies were called to 2437 Tangerine Drive just before 10:00 a.m. on Friday, when the home's fence caught on fire. When deputies and fire department personnel entered the home to make sure no one was inside, they discovered an operation consisting of 19 cannabis plants and hanging lights. Detectives obtained a search warrant and later revisited the home to discover several individually-wrapped bags of cannabis, seeds, butane hash oil, Adderall, heroin and fentanyl. Brandon Pollitt, DOB 05/26/87, and his father Robert Pollitt, DOB 08/11/61, were arrested Friday afternoon.

Both men are charged with felony Cultivation of Cannabis. Brandon also faces four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription. Both were released Friday night; Brandon on $7,500 bond and Robert on $1,500 bond.
