Kentucky Murder Suspects Captured in Sarasota

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, has arrested two men wanted for murder in Louisville, Kentucky.

Deputies located Michel Vega Cartas, DOB 11/27/88, and Janzel Vega Cartas, DOB 8/21/91, at a hotel in the 5300 block of Fruitville Road in Sarasota last night. Deputies say 20-year old Maisbelys Gurri (aka Maisbel Gurri Delgado) would not open the door so after they forced their way in and took the fugitives into custody she was arrested for Obstruction of Justice.

Louisville Metro Police say the brothers are suspects in the stabbing death of a 23-year-old man in a McDonald’s parking lot on January 15. Investigators say the suspects fled to Miami and were apparently trying to leave the country, but when law enforcement in the Miami area began working the case the fugitives traveled north to Sarasota County.

The suspects were booked into the Sarasota County Jail where they will await extradition to Kentucky.

Violent Fugitive Apprehended

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working with the U.S. Marshals Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, has captured the suspect in a violent home invasion robbery that occurred November 1, 2011 in Sarasota.

On the morning of the attack, the male victim was hit in the head as he stepped outside his apartment. The attacker dragged him back inside while two other men followed. A female victim was pulled to the floor by her hair and a gun held to her head. During the incident the male victim was choked until he was nearly unconscious. The three suspects fled with the gun after ransacking the home.

After an extensive search, deputies located Usier Rosario, DOB 9/6/88, on Wednesday. When they breached the door at 1214 35th Avenue West in Bradenton, he was found hiding in a dryer. Rosario is charged with two counts of Home Invasion Robbery with a Firearm and one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.

Another suspect, Anthony Lusson, was known by the victims and arrested shortly after the crime. He remains in jail on $150,000 bond. The third suspect has yet to be identified.
