Sex Offender Registration

NEWS RELEASE 18-164 - OCTOBER 16, 2018
Neff, Edward

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public that Edward Lee Neff, DOB 05/03/71, has registered as a sexual offender living in Sarasota.

Neff was charged in 2011 in Sarasota County with Sexual Battery on a Victim Under 12 and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation on a Victim Under 12 and sentenced to five years in prison. He was also charged in 2017 with Fraudulent Use of Personal Information and Possession of Personal Information and sentenced to an additional 18 months behind bars. Neff was just released from prison on October 7, and reports he will live in the area of 5400 Bradenton Road in Sarasota. The registration of a “location” and not a physical address is allowable by Florida law for homeless or transient persons, but a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff’s office every 30 days. Neff is not currently under the supervision of the Department of Corrections however, he is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school, childcare facility, park or playground.

This information is posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website, agency Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, when moving into the county or following a release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offenders and predator registrations.
