The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Fort Myers couple Thursday after connecting them to a string of burglaries.

Deputies responded to the 6300 block of Sturbridge Court in Sarasota for a report of an attempted burglary when the resident saw a woman outside his child’s bedroom. At the same time, deputies were alerted to a second burglary nearby in the 8500 block of Karpeal Drive. That victim reported a man and woman inside her lanai. She then saw them running towards Sturbridge Court after she called 911. Deputies quickly found the pair hiding in bushes who then attempted to flee on foot. A patrol sergeant apprehended 26-year-old Kenneth Brown, while the woman, 28-year-old Taniesha Parker, continued to flee. Parker soon returned, interfering with Brown’s detention, attempting to disarm the sergeant. Back up arrived and deputies were able to take Parker into custody without incident. During the investigation, detectives discovered a third home in the 6300 block of Sturbridge Court also burglarized.

Brown is charged with one count each of Attempted Occupied Residential Burglary, Occupied Residential Burglary, Unoccupied Residential Burglary, and remains in custody at the Sarasota County Jail on $16,500 bond. Parker is charged with one count each of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest with Violence, Attempted Occupied Residential Burglary, Occupied Residential Burglary, Unoccupied Residential Burglary, and one Criminal Mischief. She is held at the Sarasota County Jail without bond.
