The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sarasota man for Animal Cruelty after he failed to properly care for eight animals living on his property.

Agricultural Unit deputies were first made aware of two cows that appeared to be starving at 340 Sinclair Drive, on June 16. When deputies responded to the home, they located the animals on the backside of a nearby property without grass, leaves or any vegetation. A total of four cows, two horses, a miniature horse and donkey were also on the property and all appeared to be underweight. On June 17, deputies confiscated the eight animals from Ramon Gonzalez, DOB 08/25/63, and have since transferred the animals out for rehabilitation.

Gonzalez was arrested on July 6, and charged with felony Animal Cruelty: Failure to Act and misdemeanor Animal Cruelty: Failure to Provide Sustenance. Gonzalez was released the same day on $2,000 bond.
