The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office charged two south Florida men in connection with a business burglary and theft after they agreed to sell stolen property via Craigslist.
Detectives were first alerted to a burglary and theft on Friday when the victim reported that a flatbed trailer and two stump grinders valued at more than $50,000 was stolen from a fenced lot in the 7800 block of Fruitville Road in Sarasota. According to the victim, an ad was posted to craigslist seeking the exact property stolen during the burglary. On Thursday, suspects contacted the victim and agreed to sell the items at a service station along Alligator Alley in south Florida. The victim notified law enforcement and the two suspects were taken into custody by officers of the Miccosukee Police Department and subsequently booked into the Broward County Jail in Ft. Lauderdale.
Adrian Martinez, DOB 10/24/83, of Immokalee, and Alfred Everett Jr., DOB 05/13/85, of Naples, are each charged with Grand Theft More than $20,000. They remain in custody today at the Broward County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
