Sarasota Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill Hotel Manager

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office charged a Sarasota man after he threatened to kill a Venice hotel manager.
 
Detectives received information Saturday that 51-year-old David Ashworth contacted the local news media indicating he planned to kill a local hotel manager in Venice. Ashworth contacted the news station via phone and email using racial slurs to describe the manager, who Ashworth claimed overcharged and kicked out patrons. Through investigation, detectives located Ashworth Saturday evening and took him into custody. 
 
Ashworth, of 1712 Glenhouse Drive #317, is charged with Written Threats to Kill, a felony. His bond is set at $7,500.
