The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 67-year-old man Saturday for Possession of Child Pornography.
Detectives received information that a particular IP address was used to download images of child pornography. On Thursday, detectives executed a search warrant at 321 Briarwood Road in Venice. Through investigation, detectives learned Jeffrey Higel, DOB 07/16/51, lived at the residence and downloaded the images to his computer. During an interview, he admitted to downloading and viewing thousands of photos of child pornography over the years.
Higel was arrested Saturday on 17 felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography. He remains in custody on $85,000 bond while the investigation continues.
