Martinez, Inocencio
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a convicted felon on drug and weapons charges Thursday following a traffic stop.

Just after 11:00 p.m., patrol deputies near Clark Road and Honore Avenue initiated a traffic stop after a silver SUV ran a red light. When the driver, Inocencio Julian Martinez, DOB 08/01/90, began to exit the car, deputies observed a gun, later determined to be a BB gun, inside the driver’s door. During a search for additional weapons, a holstered 9mm handgun, several knives, and drug paraphernalia were located both inside the SUV and under Martinez’s clothing. Martinez claimed the weapons were for self-defense purposes and admitted to driving without a valid license.

Martinez, of 3407 31st Street West in Bradenton, was arrested and taken to the Sarasota County Jail. He has one prior felony conviction for Driving While License Suspended. Martinez is now charged with two counts of Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Suspended. He was released Monday on $27,000 bond.
