The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 37-year-old Sarasota woman after she stole nearly $24,000 using compromised credit card information.

Detectives launched an investigation in September after being contacted by Capital One and Chase banks about fraudulent activity resulting in a loss of nearly $24,000. Through investigation, detectives determined the suspect used compromised information to withdraw cash at multiple locations within Sarasota County. Through video surveillance, detectives identified the suspect making the illegal cash withdrawals as Shaleen Townsend, DOB 07/26/81, of 2103 Powell Circle.

Detectives executed a search warrant Wednesday at Townsend’s home and charged her with two counts of Grand Theft and five counts of Criminal Use of Personal Identification. She remains in custody today on $125,000 bond.
