NEWS RELEASE 17-247 - NOVEMBER 27, 2017

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sarasota man for Attempted Burglary only moments after he tried to burglarize several cars in a restaurant parking lot. 

Deputies responded to the 6700 block of Tamiami Trail in Sarasota on Friday night just after 8:00 p.m., when the restaurant’s manager and another employee witnessed the suspect pulling on handles of vehicles. Thanks to their vigilance and quick action, employees helped deputies locate Christopher H. Stewart, DOB 04/16/71 hiding in the bushes behind the business. He was taken into custody without incident.

Stewart was transported to the Sarasota County Jail and charged with two counts of Attempted Burglary. He was released Saturday on $3,000 bond.
