Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight today promoted three deputies to the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant Xavier Beorlegui began his law enforcement career in 2003 after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. He was hired by the Florida Highway Patrol in 2004 and he joined the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in 2009. Since then, Sergeant Beorlegui has worked in the Patrol Bureau, Tactical Unit (TAC), Emergency Response Tea (ERT), and most recently Special Investigations. Throughout his career, Beorlegui received nearly a dozen compliment letters and a unit citation for his work in the Tactical Unit.

Sergeant Patrick Busenburg began his law enforcement career in 2005 when he earned his Corrections certification and joined the sheriff’s office as a Corrections Deputy. In 2006, he attended the cross-over academy and earned his Law Enforcement certification. Since then, Sergeant Busenburg has earned certifications in both Hostage Negotiations and Crisis Intervention. Busenburg, a Corrections Training Officer, received numerous compliments by his supervisors for his assistance in de-escalating situations within the jail and assisting with Accreditation and Florida Model Jail Standards inspections.

Sergeant Stacey Eve began her law enforcement career in August 1994 when she was hired as a Corrections Deputy. In 1996, Sergeant Eve earned her crossover Law Enforcement certification and transferred to the Front Desk in 1997. Throughout her career, Sergeant Eve, a Field Training Officer, has worked in both the Patrol Bureau and Criminal Investigations Section. She was nominated as Law Enforcement Deputy of the Year in 2014, has received four nominations for Employee of the Month, received two Life Saving awards, and is currently serving as a member of the 2017 Strategic Plan workgroup. Sergeant Eve is certified in Crisis Intervention, RADAR, Case Preparation and Courtroom Testimony, Criminal Law Search and Seizure, Instructor Techniques, and Interview and Interrogations. With more than 35 compliment letters, Sergeant Eve is recognized by her supervisors as hard working, organized, and committed to the agency’s philosophy of Rightful Policing.
