Traffic Stop Yields Heroin, Meth, Prescription Pills

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people on felony drug charges after a traffic stop led deputies to the discovery of heroin, meth and prescription pills.

Patrol deputies first made contact with Jeremy Lorber, Derek Parker, and Lauren Bennett, early Thursday morning just after midnight in the area of Honore Avenue and Bridge Hampton Blvd., in Sarasota. When deputies initiated a traffic stop on Lorber’s vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and discovered Lorber’s license was revoked in 2014. Upon search of the car, deputies located several syringes, baggies and scales in the glove box and center console. Deputies also found heroin, meth, and hydromorphone under the rear passenger seat. Lorber and passengers Parker and Bennett were all taken into custody without incident.

Lorber, DOB 05/26/93, of 5774 Clark Road, Sarasota, is charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Hydromorphone, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Narcotic Equipment and Driving While License Suspended. He remains in custody today on $11,200 bond. Lorber is considered a prolific offender with an extensive list of prior charges including Sale of Heroin, Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon and Burglary.
