Emergency Operations Manager Cindy Bresse and Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman

Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman is pleased to announce the promotion of Cindy Bresse to Emergency Operations Manager.

In October 2014, the sheriff’s office hired Bresse as a Communications Operator III. After a promotion to Communications Operator II the following year, she became a Communications Training Officer in 2019.

Bresse was promoted to Communications Operator I in 2020 and appointed as an Incident Dispatch Team member responding to critical incidents and events requiring specific tactical communications training, skills, and knowledge. Within four months, she was promoted to Emergency Operations Supervisor.

Born and raised in Jamaica, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bresse later moved to Florida and earned a second degree in Nursing. Additionally, she has completed the prestigious 25-plus-week Association of Public-Safety Communications Officers (APCO) Executive Public-Safety Course. This APCO course elevates professionalism, enhances individual performance, and recognizes excellence in public safety communications. She earned the designation of Certified Public-Safety Executive upon completion. Additionally, she was recognized by APCO and was awarded the 2021 APCO Emergency Operations Supervisor of the Year Award.

“Our employees are making every effort to set higher standards for themselves and their bureau members. Cindy Bresse stands out as an exemplary example of that effort,” said Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman.
