Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman is pleased to announce the promotion of two Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office members.

Emergency Operations Supervisor Janine Griffin is promoted to Emergency Operations Manager. Griffin joined the sheriff’s office in 2004 as a Communications Operator III. In October 2005, she obtained her certification to dispatch law enforcement services and was promoted to Communications Operator II. In May 2016, Griffin was certified to dispatch Fire and EMS services and was promoted to Communications Operator I. Janine was nominated for employee of the month in October 2022. Griffin holds an Associate’s Degree from Manatee Community College and has attended many training courses over her career, including Sheriff’s Office Leadership Academy, Crisis Intervention Training, Active Shooter Communications Training, and Incident Dispatch.

Communications Operator I Jen Christensen is promoted to Emergency Operations Supervisor. Christensen joined the sheriff’s office in 2006 as a Communications Operator III. In January 2010, Jen obtained her certification to dispatch law enforcement services and was promoted to Communications Operator II. In July 2016, Christensen was certified to dispatch Fire and EMS services and was promoted to Communications Operator I. Jen received a life-saving award in 2022 and was also recognized by the Sarasota County Fire Department, receiving their Phoenix award for her efforts in providing life-saving CPR instructions. She has also been nominated twice for employee of the month and was selected as the employee of the month in September 2020. During her career within the Emergency Operations Bureau, Jen has been highly involved with training and mentoring newly hired communications operators by serving as a Communications Training Officer on three separate occasions. Christensen holds an Associate of Arts degree from Manatee Community College. Jen has attended numerous training courses and conferences and is a Critical Incident Stress Management team member.
