Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman is pleased to announce the promotion of Detective Jonathan Vanik.
Detective Jonathan Vanik is promoted to the rank of Sergeant assigned to the Patrol Bureau. Vanik began his career in 2008 with the Tallahassee Community College Police Department before serving with the Sarasota Police Department for five years. He was hired by the sheriff’s office in 2015 assigned to Patrol Bureau, later serving as a Field Training Officer. Vanik eventually transferred to the Criminal Investigations Section in 2018 as a detective. Throughout his career, he was nominated for Law Enforcement Employee of the Month and most recently received a Unit Citation Award as a current member of the agency’s Honor Guard. Vanik has advanced training in Homicide Investigations, Child Sex Crimes Investigations, Crisis Intervention and more. He earned his associate’s degree from Tallahassee Community College.
