Sheriff's Office Offers Safe Alternative to Trick-or-Treating

NEWS RELEASE 20-125 - OCTOBER 13, 2020
Halloween Drive Thru KP

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce its Drive-Thru Halloween event on Friday, October 30, at the agency’s Sarasota headquarters.

The program was created in response to the cancellation of several local events due to COVID-19, as well as concerned parents unsure how to safely take children trick-or-treating while maintaining safe distancing in neighborhoods.

“We have heard from several residents who aren’t sure how to handle Halloween this year which is why we decided to give the public a safe alternative,” commented Colonel Kurt A. Hoffman. “Our Patrol and Special Operations Bureaus are pulling out all the stops and will not only have vehicles on display, but will also be safely handing out candy, agency memorabilia, and more. We are really looking forward to this event and expect a great turnout.”

The event will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at 6010 Cattleridge Blvd. Attendees will be directed to enter Cattleridge Blvd. between the Arby’s restaurant and BP convenience store, before heading north toward the event. Because this is a drive-thru program, there will be no on-site parking and all attendees are asked to remain in their vehicles. For the safety of both attendees and agency members, face masks are strongly encouraged.
