Sexual Battery, False Imprisonment Arrest

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 25-year-old Bradenton man on several felony charges after he sexually battered a woman and beat her until she was unconscious.
 
Deputies were called Monday to a Sarasota apartment after receiving the report of a sexual battery. When deputies arrived, the victim’s mother reported her 34-year-old daughter was beaten and knocked unconscious by Amaury Fernandez. Deputies noticed several significant injuries to the victim including marks on her neck where Fernandez choked her. Further investigation confirmed Fernandez also sexually battered the victim before fleeing the area and later turning himself in to authorities. The victim and Fernandez are known to one another however their relationship is protected under Marsy’s Law.
 
Today Fernandez, DOB 11/09/94, of 5238 San Palermo Drive, is charged with Burglary, Domestic Battery, Battery by Strangulation, False Imprisonment, and Sexual Battery on a Victim 12 Years or Older. He remains in custody today without bond.
