Store Clerk Arrested for Stealing $13,000+ in Lottery Tickets

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a Venice convenience store clerk for stealing more than $13,000 worth of lottery scratch-off tickets.  
 
Deputies were contacted Tuesday for the report of possible theft from a convenience store in Venice. The store manager provided surveillance video which captured 28-year-old Joshua Pangio stealing $2,300 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets during a single shift. Through investigation, detectives learned since March 2, 2020, Pangio stole $13,310 worth of lottery tickets. In an interview, Pangio admitted to the thefts citing personal financial issues as the cause.  
 
Pangio, DOB 12/02/91, of 8670 Gaillard Avenue, North Port, was charged with a single felony count of Grand Theft More than $10,000. He was released Wednesday on $1,500 bond.
