The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 76-year-old Sarasota man Thursday for Possession of Child Pornography.
Detectives launched their investigation Monday after Richard Sundstrom, DOB 10/02/43, brought his phone to a local repair store where employees observed images of nude children on his cell phone. Store employees alerted detectives who executed a search warrant on his cell phone and recovered 37 images determined to be child pornography. During an interview, Sundstrom admitted to downloading and viewing the photos.
Sundstrom was arrested and taken to the Sarasota County Correctional Facility where he is charged with 37 felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography. He remains in custody without bond while the investigation continues.
