Sheriff's Office Promotion and Swearing-In Ceremony

Newly sworn-in corrections personnel, AFIS Supervisor Brian Asbridge and Sheriff Tom Knight, and newly sworn-in law enforcement personnel. 

Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight is pleased to announce the promotion of Latent Print Examiner Brian Asbridge along with the swearing in of 23 new deputies.

Latent Print Examiner Brian Asbridge is promoted to the rank of AFIS Supervisor assigned to the Investigations Bureau. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1994, Asbridge began his career at the crime laboratory of the Postal Inspection Service, later serving as a forensic scientist and firearm examiner with the Illinois State Police. From 1998 to 2010, he worked as a crime scene investigator and latent print examiner for the Waterford Township Police in Michigan. Asbridge was hired by the sheriff’s office in 2011 as a Latent Print Examiner. Throughout his career he received two nominations for employee of the month and earned the Unit Citation and Meritorious Achievement Awards. In 2017, Asbridge was recognized by the Venice Police Department with the Chief’s Achievement Award. He is a current member of the Southern Association for Forensic Scientists and the International Association for Identification. Asbridge earned his master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University.
