NEWS RELEASE 20-010 - JANUARY 24, 2020
Vaicaitis, Dainius

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Land O’ Lakes man for selling a trafficking amount of methamphetamine to undercover detectives.

Detectives were initially contacted by 50-year old Danius Vaicaitis in late 2019 for the purpose of narcotics sales. On January 8, detectives agreed to meet Vaicaitis where he offered to sell them 14 grams of methamphetamine, a trafficking amount. On Wednesday, Vaicaitis again contacted detectives and offered to meet up for a narcotics sale. When detectives arrived, they took Vaicaitis into custody on an arrest warrant for Trafficking in Methamphetamine. During a search of his vehicle, detectives recovered an additional 63 grams of meth in addition to several pills including oxycodone, morphine, and clonazepam, as well as a loaded firearm. Detectives also recovered a brown substance that is being tested for the possible presence of heroin.

Vaicaitis, DOB 12/04/69, of 2437 Glenview Drive, is charged with two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and a single count of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device. He remains in custody today on $81,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
