Sex Offender Registration

NEWS RELEASE 20-004 - JANUARY 7, 2020
Griffin, Wesley

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public that Wesley Griffin, DOB 12/13/78, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.

Griffin was convicted in 1998 in Broward County on two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Assault/Battery on a Victim Under 16 Years Old, two counts of Burglary and a single count of Attempted Burglary. He was sentenced to six years in prison and was later released in 2003. In 2005, he was again convicted of Burglary with Assault and Aggravated Assault with a Weapon. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and released in 2013. Griffin reoffended in 2017 and was sentenced to three additional years behind bars for Sale/Manufacture/Delivery of Methamphetamine. He just moved from Gadsden County, Florida, and reports his new address is 1094 Bacon Avenue in Sarasota. Griffin is not currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections, and because his original sex offense took place prior to 2004, residency restrictions do not apply.

This information is posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website, agency Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts to publicly notify citizens of sexual offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, when moving into the county or following release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offenders and predator registrations.
