The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 76-year-old Nokomis man in connection with the death of his wife.

 

The investigation began on June 20 when deputies responded to 517 Rousseau Drive for the death of 74-year-old Judith Richardson. When deputies arrived, they made contact with the victim’s husband, John Richardson, who alluded to being involved in her death but did not offer an explanation. Detectives noticed fresh abrasions and bruising on the defendant’s arms. Near the victim’s body, crime scene analysts recovered a bloody pillowcase and a broken wristwatch belonging to the defendant. Further investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim died from homicidal violence after she suffered multiple blunt force injuries to her head and upper body.

 

Detectives arrested Richardson Monday afternoon. He is charged with Murder and is being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $500,000 bond. The investigation continues.
