DUTIES
The Paralegal will be responsible for performing various legal support functions including but not limited to:
- Conducting legal research and assist in drafting pleadings.
- E-Filing pleadings.
- Composing correspondence.
- Maintaining appropriate files and spreadsheets (contracts, forfeitures, risk protection orders, U-Visas, litigation, notice of claims, EEOC complaints, etc.)
- Formatting and reviewing contracts, memoranda of understanding, and interagency agreements for conformity and ensuring that the terms and signatories are current.
- Preparing and assist in drafting discovery responses for civil litigation (collecting, categorizing, and reviewing agency records for confidential information, and answering subpoenas duces tecum, requests for production, etc.).
- Assisting with public records requests.
- Scheduling and assisting in preparation for depositions, mediations, conferences, meetings, and other events as required.
- Assisting attorneys with evidentiary hearing preparation.
- Liaising with staff in the Office of the County Attorney, Office of the State Attorney, and other law offices.
Salary range upon hire: $54,620 - $62,940 (determined by acceptable prior related experience).
Long-term salary cap: $77,500.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Associates Degree in related field.
- Minimum of four years of related work experience.
- Must possess excellent time management skills relating to daily work activities, tasks, and special assignments.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills with appropriate tone.
- Ability to conduct independent research and data gathering.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
- Strong organization skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a time-sensitive environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Preference given to applicants who are proficient in the following software programs: WinGS, DocuPhase, QueTel, GovQA, SharePoint, PowerDMS, GlobalTelLink, and iRecord.
- Preference given to applicants who have experience in digitizing paper records and files as well as knowledge of secure file transfer and storage.
