I.T. Director


JOB SUMMARY
The Information Technology Director is responsible for the management, strategic planning, budgeting, organizing, directing, and coordinating the information technology infrastructure. This position works closely with executive staff and bureau commanders to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost effective technology solutions for all aspects of the agency. Responsible for defining and implementing IT policies, procedures, and best practices. Position requires exercise of discretion, independent judgement, and independent thought. Take home vehicle.

DUTIES
Establish policies and procedures; monitor output and quality standards; analyze information to determine and recommend modifications to existing systems; analyze, test, install, document and maintain computer applications programs that have a moderate to high degree of complexity; define project timeliness, scopes and responsibilities; ensure appropriate confidentiality of information is maintained; monitor system security and ensure compliance with policy and procedures; prioritize, assign, direct and evaluate the work and daily activities of assigned staff; review payroll and time record-keeping activities; oversee IT related purchases and budget usage; negotiate software/hardware purchases and contracts to assure the best possible pricing/equipment; establish and maintain liaison with vendors to improve services; and performs other related duties as assigned. Position requires on call in case of emergency and may be required to work or travel outside of office hours. Position may require executive level briefing to the Sheriff and other command staff personnel, including testifying before governmental bodies and doing community presentations.

SALARY
Salary: $124,972 (In addition to salary, option of take-home vehicle or car allowance)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum 8 years related experience maintaining large office and/or network environment with at least 3 years supervisory experience
  • Experience managing .NET, ERSI, and XML environments, MicrosoftSuite of Applications, Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems (MCSA/MCSE skills), Public Safety Applications, firewalls and routers, and ability to facilitate troubleshooting application system issues including network and third-party components, and Desktop, Server and Component Hardware.
