DUTIES
This position reports to the Administrative Division Chief and oversees the fiscal, procurement, and payroll functions of the Sheriff’s Office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing the annual budget, financial reporting including preparation of the annual audited financial statements, federal, state, and local statutory reporting, treasury, grants management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting, procurement, all aspects of payroll, self-insurance programs, internal financial controls, and state and federal forfeiture requirements. This position will efficiently manage fiscal resources in conjunction with agency policy and goals within the constraints of the adopted budget and federal, state and county law. This position requires interaction with Board of County Commissioners staff and the staff of other constitutional officers. The Finance Director supervises: the fiscal manager, payroll manager, and procurement manager. Applicants should have a good understanding of both state and federal statutes dealing with finance and financial reporting requirements, as well as a good understanding of government accounting standards. Candidate will be expected to develop cost-saving methods, conduct cost-saving analysis and prepare year-to-year budget comparisons, salary projections and work with other senior staff members to develop the budget for the next fiscal year. This position may require presentations to other governmental or community organizations on budgetary issues.
SALARY
$124,972 (In addition to salary, option of take-home vehicle or car allowance)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree with major studies in accounting, business administration or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of work experience specific to Florida State Statute Chapter 30 and extensive experience with county or constitutional government finance operations with at least 3 years supervisory experience.
- Proficiency with ERP computer systems, Microsoft Office applications, strong analytical and communication skills, strong database and report writing skills.
CPA designation (if in process of obtaining CPA designation please indicate on resume).
