The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has dismantled a grow house operation in Sarasota and arrested the man responsible for it on multiple charges.
Detectives with the Special Investigations Section obtained a search warrant for 4548 Gallup Avenue and found a grow operation in two rooms of the house. They seized 31 marijuana plants that weighed nearly 38 pounds.
The grow house operator, Yunesquis Gomez Torres, DOB 4/2/81, 3527 Gladstone Street, Sarasota, drove into the neighborhood but fled the scene when he spotted the law enforcement activity. Deputies tried to pull him over and at one point Torres swerved to try to hit a deputy’s vehicle. Torres was stopped and taken into custody on Cattlemen Road just south of Bee Ridge Road.
Torres is charged with Trafficking in Cannabis, Cultivation of Cannabis and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is also charged with Reckless Fleeing to Elude and Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
