Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight today promoted Lieutenant Jeff Slapp to Captain.
Slapp joined the sheriff’s office in 1985, and rose through the ranks, becoming a lieutenant in 2006. Slapp has served the agency in a number of areas, most recently supervising the Training Section, and is credited with introducing progressive skills and technologies to the training programs agency-wide. Captain Slapp will now bring his management skills to the Public Safety Communications Center.
“Jeff is always striving to better the production of his command,” said Sheriff Knight. “He earned his new position through hard work and dedication.”
Slapp has a master’s degree in Criminology from USF, is a 2009 graduate of the St. Leo University Command Officer Development Training Course and an adjunct professor at Keiser University.
