The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is retiring two K9s after years of faithful service.
K9 Titan, a German Shepherd born in Budapest, Hungary, began training with Deputy Josh Gnesin in 2011. Since that time, Titan has effectively tripled the national average in apprehensions and provided countless narcotics "sniffs" and backup to numerous patrol deputies throughout Sarasota County and surrounding areas.
K9 Zuul, a German Shepherd born in Budapest, Hungary, began training with Deputy Chris Indico in January 2007. After more than 800 training hours, K9 Zuul had over 100 apprehensions and numerous narcotics "sniffs," leading to the arrest of some of Sarasota County’s most prolific offenders. K9 Zuul had more than 1,000 deployments to include tracking criminals, building checks and missing persons.
Two new K9s are now training with their handlers and will be introduced to the community in the coming months.
