The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men after a traffic stop on North Washington Boulevard in Sarasota led to the discovery of a loaded weapon and drugs.
Deputies stopped a silver pickup truck that ran a stop sign as it left the parking lot of Kay’s Lounge following a minor disturbance. Before the vehicle pulled over, deputies saw two men in the bed of the truck take items out of their pockets and place them under a tool box behind them. Deputies determined the driver, Phillip Richardson, DOB 6/14/94, 1245 Myrtle Street, Sarasota, was driving with a suspended license. When the passengers got out of the truck deputies saw two bags and a gun where they had been sitting. One contained marijuana, the other held six small baggies of cocaine individually packaged for sale, and deputies determined the .22 caliber revolver was loaded.
Charles Johnson, DOB 9/23/86, 701 17th Avenue West, Bradenton, is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon and Possession of Marijuana.
