Citizens dropped off a total of 79 pounds of pharmaceutical drugs; 26 pounds in Sarasota and 53 pounds in Venice.
Anyone who missed the turn-in event can drop off their unused or expired prescription medications year-round. In 2012, Sarasota County residents turned in a total of 1,462 pounds of prescription medication to the sheriff’s office throughout the year.
