The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task force, has captured a man wanted for molesting a 10-year-old girl last week.
Deputies located Eric Miranda-Lopez, DOB 12/1/83, in the 1100 block of 40th Street in Sarasota this afternoon. Miranda-Lopez was determined to be a flight risk because U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removed him from the Sarasota County Jail and deported him to Mexico in July. He said he re-entered the country in September.
The victim told detectives with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit that Miranda-Lopez inappropriately touched her as she slept. The child told her mother and she confronted the suspect. He fled the home before deputies arrived.
Miranda-Lopez is charged with Lewd or Lascivious Molestation and is being held in the Sarasota County Jail without bond, in addition to the administrative hold placed on him by ICE… again.
