Venice Man Arrested for Child Abuse

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a Venice man for child abuse today after he admitted the crime.

The victim’s mother called the Sheriff’s Office today to report that Edward Prall, DOB 11/17/76, assaulted her 11-year-old son several times after school yesterday. When she arrived home from work last night the boy told her about the attack. The woman said she confronted Prall and he threatened to hurt everyone in the house. As soon as the woman arrived at work this morning she reported the crime.

The victim’s School Resource Deputy was notified and observed visible injuries around the child’s neck and chest. The victim’s mother took him to the emergency room for evaluation and treatment.

Prall was taken into custody and admitted that he snapped and lost control. He was booked into the Sarasota County Jail this afternoon and is being held without bond.
