The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has again arrested one of two men suspected of burglarizing vehicles at Siesta Key Beach this week.
Since their arrest on Tuesday, detectives were able to confirm that credit cards stolen in a second case involving a Nokomis woman were used by Rene Sanchez and Carmelo Curbelo to purchase high end electronics at Best Buy and items at Macy’s totaling more than $3,200. However, both men were released from jail Wednesday afternoon after Curbelo posted $60,000 bond and Sanchez posted $30,000 bond.
Last night deputies located Sanchez near Clark Road and Murdock Avenue in Sarasota driving a black Nissan. He was taken into custody and charged with one count of Vehicle Burglary, two counts of Fraud for Illegal Use of a Credit Card and two counts of Grand Theft.
Anyone with information on these men or the whereabouts of Curbelo is encouraged to call Criminal Investigations at 941-861-4900 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS (8477), or online at www.sarasotacrimestoppers.com or via text message by texting TIP109 plus a message to CRIMES (274637).
