Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight is pleased to announce that the Sarasota County Correctional Facility was re-accredited by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC) at a conference today in Sarasota.
Assessors spent three days reviewing records, meeting with personnel and inmates and touring the facility in August. After noting the cleanliness and quietness of the facility and finding no issues, they recommended re-accreditation.
The jail was first accredited by FCAC in 1994 and must be assessed every three years to maintain its accreditation.
“Compliance with professionally accepted national and state standards, and regular review by outside professionals, are important elements for ensuring acceptable agency practices,” said Sheriff Tom Knight. “The sworn, certified and civilian staff in the Corrections Division have once again earned this vote of confidence for their work.”
