The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has captured a violent home invasion suspect wanted for robbing a woman at gunpoint Saturday night.
The Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, took 31-year-old Erik Bradley Brittain into custody today in the 500 block of 30th Avenue East in Bradenton.
Deputies have been looking for him since Saturday around 8:00 p.m., when Brittain went to the home of a friend in the 3700 block of Lokai Place and asked to speak privately with the man’s mother. When they went into her room to speak, Brittain pulled out a gun and demanded the woman’s pain medication. Brittain grabbed the bag and ran toward the door, pointing the weapon at two other people as he left the house.
Brittain was booked into the Sarasota County Jail and charged with Home Invasion Robbery with a Firearm. He is being held without bond. Brittain, who has an extensive criminal history that includes armed trafficking in cocaine, drug possession and child neglect, is also wanted in North Carolina on felony drug charges.
