The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested a mother and daughter for conspiring to commit fraud against the state’s unemployment benefit system.
In June 2011, investigators with the Pharmaceutical Diversion Unit initially charged Elizabeth Lanoue, DOB 7/28/68, with 32 counts of Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, and in June of this year charged Lanoue and her daughter Robin Dople, DOB 11/26/90, with three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Lanoue remained behind bars, and investigators recently determined that Lanoue had Dople go online to enter Lanoue’s unemployment claims and state that she was actively looking for work even though she was incarcerated. Dople wanted those funds to pay bills.
Under Florida State Statue 443.071, each false statement constitutes a separate offense, therefore both women are charged with 14 counts of Obtaining Reemployment Assistance by Fraud.
