Arrest in Sarasota Bank Robbery

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office today charged Michael Aldridge, DOB 8/13/72, 5509 Westcreek Drive, Forth Worth, Texas, in connection with the robbery at the Palmer Ranch Wells Fargo Bank on May 11, 2012.

Detectives working in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) determined the suspect resembled a man under investigation for multiple bank robberies in at least three states. That suspect was subsequently identified as Aldridge, and both his wife and a local bank teller have positively identified him as the suspect in the Sarasota case.

Aldridge was recently arrested on a battery charge in Lee County and remains in custody there. The FBI is having Aldridge transferred to Jacksonville where he is wanted for at least one additional bank robbery. Federal charges are pending.
