UPDATE: Jerry Williams was taken into custody without incident on October 8, 2012. He is charged with 9 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and is currently being held without bond.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant for Jerry Williams, DOB 9/20/88, 2594 Euclid Avenue, Sarasota, for the shooting at his home Saturday night.
A deputy in the area at the time of the incident heard gunshots and saw Williams drive away from the home. The deputy attempted a pit maneuver and Williams tried to drive through a culvert to avoid being stopped but got stuck and ran from the vehicle. The deputy pursued him but lost sight of Williams, who could not be located during a search.
Witnesses say Williams pulled out a gun during an argument with his girlfriend, grabbed her by the hair and threatened to shoot her. Some of the victim’s relatives who had arrived at the home say Williams fired at least one round inside the residence and then walked outside and fired several more times at them. No one was injured.
